Mr. Dekeon does an excellent job of showcasing his P.E. program on this teacher webpage. He shares many elements of his program including his teaching philosophy, examples of lesson plans and assessments, special school events, photos of students, and motivational items. Mr. Dekeon's passion for P.E. is evident in the enthusiastic and personable tone of his entries. There are some things that could be improved, though. The background is plain white which makes it dull. There are too many variations in the font type and size which makes some pages look messy. Also, there are too many tabs on the left side of the page. It would look more organized and be easier to navigate if there were 4-5 tabs on the left and the rest were embedded in these general categories. However, it is very possible that Dekeon's flexibility in the design and personalization of the page could be limited due to the format and program provided by his school district--I experience this with my own teacher webpage.
I plan to follow Mr. Dekeon's lead and add more specific information, such as lessons and assessments, in my own teacher page. I would also like to shift the tone of my page from strictly professional to one that demonstrates my passion for P.E. and teaching children. I will use more friendly and down-to-earth language to accomplish this. I learned a lot from searching through Dekeon's site.
